Avenue A to the Great White Way: Treasures From the Cutting Room Floor/AM2 Henry Sapoznik

Join Henry Sapoznik to hear choice examples of the archival recordings which didn’t make it into his anthology, “From Avenue A to the Great White Way: Yiddish and American Popular Songs 1914-1950,” including amazing performances by Jenny Goldstein, Peisachke Burstein and Naftule Brandwein. Hear some of the greatest Yiddish records ever made and the fascinating stories behind them.

From Second Avenue to Lenox Avenue/PM2 Pete Sokolow

A rare opportunity for non-musicians to hear Pete Sokolow’s insights on the relationship of early jazz and popular music and Yiddish music from 1920 to 1955. The “Perfesser” will demonstrate at the piano and share examples of historic recordings from his amazing personal collection. Not to be missed!

Meditation and Melody/PM1 Frank London

This class will focus on learning and singing D’veykus nigunim and other prayers as forms of introspection. Instrumentalists are welcome to bring their instruments.
