KlezKamp Children’s Program/ Daily   KlezKids KlezKamp

For general information about Children's Programs, click here.

This is an opportunity for your child to experience the rich world of Yiddish culture. Choose from classes and activities led by teachers, artists, musicians and performing arts educators. The day is organized to offer participants a rich KlezKamp experience geared to their age groups. Please note: children must be registered and attend their class or they are not considered part of the program. Parents are responsible for their children at all times except when a child is enrolled and attending a class. A mid-morning snack is provided each day.

KINDERNEST (ages 2-5)

Music, movement, language, games, art projects and playtime in a heymish, leybedik and friendly setting. This is an all-day program that includes outdoor play, but children eat lunch with their families. There will be a room for supervised nap time. One parent of each child is expected to spend one class period per day in Kindernest.

KLEZKINDER (ages 6-11)

Yiddish song, language, dance, theater and history are part of the morning classes for KlezKinder. There will be two classes, for ages 6-8 and 9-11. Teachers will bring the world of Yiddish into the classroom, with guests including elders from Europe, yiddish theater actors, musicians and others. After lunch with their families, the children will return to an afternoon of electives. Please register your children for specific electives, though they are free to change classes once KlezKamp begins.

We are excited to bring the children’s program back to the Catskills, where we will once again enjoy being outdoors as well as using the heated indoor pool and other facilities. Parents are responsible for supervising their children for swimming.

KLEZTEENS - age 12 and up

Youth Theater Workshop/PM1 & PM2 Jenny Romaine

Students will again have the privilege of creating an original work of contemporary Yiddish theater under the tutelage of innovative New York performer/director Jenny Romaine. The Youth Theater Workshop performance is considered by many to be the highlight of the last night of KlezKamp. KlezKampers ages 12-17 are invited to a week of challenge, controversy and heightened consciousness.

Youth Orchestra/AM2 Christian Dawid

Klezmorim ages 8-17 are invited to join this lively and popular ensemble. Students should play an instrument in their school band or community orchestra or be studying privately. Music will be learned by ear.
