Meetings with Our Masters: Yiddish Theater

We are honored to have with us again the leading veterans of the Yiddish stage: Mina Bern, David Rogoff and Shifra Lehrer. These treasured stars will be offering us a series of special performances and talks during the week gleaned from their many years in the Yiddish theater.

Tuesday December 23

KlezKampers get to hear the greatest Yiddish performers in the world in the year’s best concert.

Wednesday December 24

"Working in the 'Mountains'" join Catskill veterans Phil Brown, Pete Sokolow, Ray Musiker, Neil Blackman, Henry Sapoznik and others as they reminisce – and in some cases grimace – discussing their salad days in "The Mountains" as musicians, busboys, bellhops, guests and unwilling choirboys.

Thursday December 25

Screening of “Catskill Honeymoon” (1950) Come to mythic “Young’s Gap Hotel” in Parksville, where a hilarious campy review of Yiddish vaudeville is being staged. Directed by Joseph (“Mirele Efros”) Berne and written by comic Hymie Jacobson it stars Jacobson, the Pincus Sisters, Bas Sheva and more.

Saturday December 27

Be part of the historic first studio audience for a live broadcast from a Catskill hotel! Together with local public radio station WJFF (90.5) we go live from the stage at KlezKamp regionally, nationally via the National Public Radio (NPR) satellite and worldwide via streaming audio on the WJFF website www.wjffradio.org.

All public events are $25 and include dance party and refreshments.

Commuter Program

Catskills residents who want to enjoy the KlezKamp experience without staying overnight at the hotel can now join us for the full program at a special commuter rate. Price includes all classes, meals and public events. See Registration Form Registration Form for further details.
