Papercutting/PM1 Susan Leviton

KlezKamp presents a beginning and intermediate workshop exploring traditional Jewish papercutting from a historical perspective, through hands-on instruction. Work completed in this class is always so beautiful that it has become a tradition to exhibit it at the end of the week. LIMIT15 PARTICIPANTS.

Making Art From Memories: Life History in Collage/PM2 Emily Socolov

Participants in this workshop will use the tools of today’s technology to create a work of art based on their own memories. Students should bring photos, letters, small objects and/or pieces of material which will form the basis of a personal mixed media panel. Together, these panels will form a KlezKamp life history "quilt," and each person will be able to take home their personal panel.

Please note: We will be making life history collages using scanned images of your personal objects (photographs, documents, fabric, etc.) If you if you are registered for this course or are thinking of registering, please remember to bring these objects for color scanning and printing. If you have your own copies of important objects bring those too. LIMIT15 PARTICIPANTS.

The Art of the Alef-Beys/PM2 Susan Leviton

Susan Leviton will offer focused instruction in Hebrew calligraphy with the goal of applying scribal arts to the creation of your own piece of Judaica. Consider designing something as traditional as a mizrekh or a kimpetbrivl (an amulet to protect a newborn), or craft a never-before-seen object such as a flag to wave for Vashti and Esther at Purim. Papercutting supplies will be accessible for those who wish to work with paper and blades. LIMIT 15 PARTICIPANTS.
